| Zhongyue Temple |

Located beneath the Huanggai Peak of the south foot of Mt Taishi 80
km away from the southwest of Zhengzhou in Dengfeng City. Its origin
is Taishi Temple firstly built in Qin Dynasty (221BC--207BC) for sacrificing
the Mt. Numen of Taishi. Later, it was rebuilt in all the dynasties,
it became an old construction groups of palace style covering the
total area of 110000 square meters regarded as the first in the Zhongzhou
Temples and also was the one with the largest scale & the most
complete & old building among five holy mountains. The central-axis
buildings of Zhongyue temple are over 650 meters deep containing 11
parts such as Zhonghua Men Gate, Yaocan Pavilion, Pavilion in Heaven,
the Heavenly Guard Gateway, Workshipping-the-Saint Gate, Huashan Gate,
Junji Gate, the Gateway of Extreme Loftiness, the grand Altar Temple,
Qin Hall, the Imperial Stacks and Taiwei Palace, Fire Numen Palace,
the Founder Palace, Jiulong Palace, Shenzhou Palace on both sides
including almost 400 living constructions, over 20000 gold & stone
casting wares in the Ming & Qing Dynasty and more than 30000 old
cypress trees from Han Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. Zhongyue Temple is
the earliest base where Taoism was spread out throughout the Central
China named as the Cave Mansion of the 6th small cave-sky, Zhongyue
Temple for that Taoism called the Mt Songshan, as the 6th small cave-sky. |
