Hanguguan Pass (Hanguguan)
Located in Wangduo Village in the north of Lingbao City 65 kilometers away from Sanmenxia City, Hanguguan Pass, on an old way of Changan, has bold cliffs and deep like a tunnel, such that it is called Hanguguan Pass. It has been a place contested by strategists since the ancient times. This pass is 7.5 kilometers long from east to west and allows for passage of only one cart so that it is a pass that "one can hold against ten thousand".

When I was in China last summer, I visited this place. While I was there, there was a big commotion in the center and two guys (who looked like Shaolin Monks) started fighting with weapons.

They were very good and the whole scene was surreal, but very exciting. It lasted about 15 minutes until one of the monks threw a flying spin kick and knocked over a little boys ice cream onto the street. All the people then yelled at the monks to go home and they left the square in shame.

But it still is a very beautiful and exciting place! Make sure and train hard before visiting!!!

Wow, we don't get much rain in Texas. I was at Hanguan pass when it rained as well. The people there were very nice, but they laughed at our large Texas hats.

It is a beautiful place with lots of history. Not far from the Yellow river. But that's a hard hike in cowboy boots.

Still a must see for all going to the area!!!

have a great trip!

I have been to Hanguguan pass on a previous trip to China with some close friends. I didn't spend much time there, but I was glad that I made the trip! It was amazing to see a place with such a old history. There were lots of people there when we went eventhough the weather wasn't great.

It was pouring rain, and we had neglected to bring raincoats on our trip. We tried to purchase rain gear in China, but we could not find anything that would fit (as my friends and I are quite large people). We talked to a guy at our hotel, and he said that he would find us some plastic trash bags to use to cover our heads. That worked great! We poked holes in the tops of the trash bags to put our heads through and then poked holes in the sides of the bags for our arms.

Everyone would point and laugh at us because we sure looked funny walking around wearing trash bags. We didn't mind, because we knew that we did look very odd.

I would certainly recommend that anyone planning a trip to Sanmenxia or anywhere else in China purchase a raincoat before leaving the country. There are so many types and sizes of raincoats to choose from here in Canada that I can't imagine having a better selection anywhere else.

Good luck on your trip!

My husband and I are planning a trip to China next summer. We would like to spend a couple days in the area of Sanmenxia including Hanguguan Pass. We have not yet found a travel agent, and I would like more information about ChinaTravelz.com. Also, I would very much like to find more information about Hanguguan Pass such as travel or tour guides. So any help you could provide would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jael

As you mentioned you are planning to visit Hanguguan pass, from our perspective as a tour operator, you may definitely not only entry China and be the pass and then return home, will you? So you may need some ideas to plan some routes of where to fly-in and where to fly-out. The most possible cities for international fly-in and out including Beijing, Shanghai, not only the availability for the flights, but you may also visit the most classic place like Great Wall etc., then you will take several days at the fly-in city, and then to the place you interested most -- Hanguguan pass.

For the route from Shanghai / Beijing to Hanguguan, you may fly / train to Luoyang (http://www.chinatravelz.com/china/Henan/Luoyang/index.asp) or Xi'an (http://www.chinatravelz.com/china/Shaanxi/Xian/index.asp) first, and then to the pass, so you will also have chance to visit famous and significant tour attractions, historical relics, even some not well known ones at Luoyang or Xi'an throughout this area (as our web site listed), which was the ancient capitals of China so we honest believe it would not worthless to visit but if you think so. Hanguguan pass is located between the two capitals, so we personally believe this route that good at geography may make you have a complete impression for the pass itself.

Then you may have the proposed route -- (Beijing / Shanghai etc.) - (Luoyang to Xi'an / Xi'an to Luoyang) - (Beijing / Shanghai etc.), if you have other ideas for the route, just insert into it. So would you please share your ideas with us? Then we can arrange your tour better or give you more detailed information.

Do you have other information for this page?
Do you need car rental? Hotel / ticket reservation etc.?
Please feel free to tell us now.
